I keep having problems installing My DVD Drive.?

I Got this DvD Drive from a Friend. We just tested it. It worked Fine. Well I brought it to my house and Was Installing it. I turned the Computer on But I had no picture. I take out the power and IDE Cable and the Computer turns on and Runs. Well My First IDE Cable is full. Its got the Hard drive and The CD-drive in it. So I took another IDE Cable and Plugged it in the IDE 2 Plug and plugged it in to both The master IDE and the Slave plug. but it aint workin still.
yet the Same thing happends where if i take the IDE Cable out of the Drive the Computer screen will show what it supposed to.

You have to make sure to connect the IDE ribbon cable so that the side with the red stripe lines up with Pin 1 on the IDE socket on the back of your CD drive. Pin 1 should be on the right side of the socket. Plug in the ribbon cable so the red stripe is on the right.

Now when installing two drives, you have to designate one as the master drive, and the other as the slave drive. The drive you use the most is the one you should designate as the master drive, while the one you use less frequently is the one you should set as the slave drive.

In order to designate an optical drive a master or slave drive, you need to change the jumper settings. The jumpers reside between the IDE interface and the CD audio cable socket on the back of most drives. You should see three sets of two pins each, with a plastic tab covering one of the sets of pins.

Both drives are probably set to master by default. The plastic tab will cover the set of pins with the letters “MA” (for master) above them. To change the one drive to a slave drive, remove the plastic tabs from the pins labeled MA, and place them over the two pins labeled “SL.” Once you’ve set one of the drives as a slave drive, you’re done.
