What could be wrong? I have Windows XP. laptop Dell. Everything says it's working properly, like the devices & drivers. But I don't hear anything. & then 3 hrs. later, the sound comes back on for 2 minutes. The sound is not on mute.
ANSWER: Sounds like you have a hardware problem. Try calling Dell and ask them if they know of any issues. Hopefully your warranty will allow you to send it back to them for repair.
