Can You Use A Hp Recovery Disk On Another Hp Computer.computer Crashed And Daughter Cannot Install Windows Xp?

you can try it. it might work if it is the same kind of pc, otherwise it probably won’t work, the computer will know if that is its restore cd or not.. they do it that way so you can’t just pass copies of xp around to your friends. Don’t go and buy xp though until you try ubuntu linux. www.ubuntu.com. it is a free operating system, with full office suite, free all sotware actually, and legally. if you don’t like it you can just format and go buy windows and be out nothign. Sucks that you own the computer, and you own windows, but because you can’t find the disk, you might have to buy a new copy for 120 bucks. one other hting, you might be able to order one from the computer manufacturer.. check that too

If it is the same model, then yes.
If it is a different model, then you can still install Windows using the recovery disk but chances are you may have some missing drivers that will cause things to not function correctly. If your daughter’s computer is already not in a working state and you are out of warranty then it is not a bad idea to give it a shot anyway. You should be able to find those missing drivers afterwards.

as long as the model numbers are exactly the same and all the parts inside are exactly the same. but unfortunately i highly doubt that…
technically you can, but it will cause alot of problems!
go to http://support.hp.com first and download all the correct drivers for her model first! download them to a flash drive.
once you finish installing windows again on her pc install all the correct drivers!
when you are done make sure everything is ok. go to start and right click on my computer and go to manage. click device manager and make sure there are no X’s or ! or anything indicating an error.
any other questions feel free to ym me!
