How Do I Fix My Computer? Can You Tell If These Are Virus Symptoms?
Categories: hardware
Written By: admin
so, i have a Dell comp from the early 2000’s. i got good files on there. since then, i got a newer Dell in like 2007. i still use the older computer for one program, and that program works, but all the others don’t work. sometimes, if i leave it on for days at a time, my folders refuse to open. i want to fix it completely, but i don’t feel like putting antivirus software on it. i don’t have the internet on it either, that broke earlier this year.
thanks

PCs work best when they are routinely formatted and get a fresh install of Windows. After several years of running on the same install, systems become less stable and are more prone to failure. Additionally, a PC that old is prone to hardware failure from the video card, RAM, hard drive, even motherboard. Any defective card can cause a system hang.

You might have a virus but I highly doubt that, IF you can re-install that one program and any others you may need I would suggest doing a system restore, my computer started going very slow and some things would not open I did a system restore and it was all good. I hope this helped!

sounds like the hard drive. Open it up and get the model number. Purchase an exact duplicate. Set the new one as drive D: Perform a disk copy. Replace the old disk with the new one.
