Categories: hardware

My computer speakers have not been working. The speakers all plugged in and the little lights come on when i turn them on but no sound will come out.
Is there any program i can download or any way i can fix this without having to wipe my computer?

I had the same problem. I tried for months to fix it using “geek” sites, forums and downloads. Nothing worked. I ended up taking the pc apart to check to see what kind of sound card it was using and didn’t get anywhere. I finally emailed the computer help line even though my warranty expired years ago. They sent a download and the problem was fixed. What I’m getting to is, try to contact your pc manufacturer. Sometimes they can really be helpful even if your warranty is up.

“Wiping” your computer is likely to only make things worse, not better. Check your drivers. Then, check your audio settings. It would help to know what operating system you have. Vista has a mixer. If that is not configured appropriately, it could be responsible. You’re certain headphones are not plugged in anywhere and it’s not on mute?

Well if your working off the motherboard sound then that can go out easly you might have to buy a new sound card. That is usally the problem when the sound goes off. But i would check to make sure your not on mute or anything lol
