Should Kaspersky Repair A Crash Caused By Their Install?

Categories: Applications

I have just installed Kaspersky 2009 Anti virus on two good laptops (one Gateway – One Toshiba Tablet) and both crashed. I am now only able to boot in safe mode. I uninstalled the programs using the Kaspersky removal tool but I am still left with two presently useless computers. The Kaspersky tech would not offer any assistance. Anyone else had this experience and how do we make Kaspersky take responsibility and repair the computers?

You can try using the system restore on both computers or use the system backup disk for the system repair. That will be my step.

No, if you took the time to read the EULA (Software license agreement) you will find that all software has infomation, disclosures protecting them from what you feel they should do for you after the systems crashed.
I have used Kaspersky’s Software many times, and had friends use it to see if they liked it as a anti-virus package. It is or was one of the top programs preventing viral infections, and also providing almost fool proof protection against Trojans other anti-virus software could not detect.
I find it very difficult to understand why this software would adversely effect two separate computer systems, unless they were already infected with the same malware/Trojan/Virus.or you were already running another anti-virus package and the conflict created the destruction of both your windows operating systems.
If these systems are new, then just re-install the operating systems from the back-up or recovery disks. If you did not create the recovery or backup disks then this is going to be a painful lesson.
If you were running the Linux it would not be as much of a disaster, and would only take you about 15 minutes to re-install the operating system. Since you have to re-install windows and software, please look and move the hard drives a desktop to read and recover your data, before you reformat the hard drives. Notebook to IDE adapters cost about $10… Most of the time removing the notebooks hard drive is not difficult and the vendors should have webpages with decent instruction to assist you .
Gateway had a wonderful set of pages that helped me change out a dying notebook hard drive, I am certain Toshiba should have similar web assistance.
None of this recovery and re-installation is difficult, it take time and being aware/careful and setting aside a clean unfettered workspace. Or, taking both of your systems to your local “competent” computer shop…
