The Sims 2 Freetime Crashed My Game Before. Should I Install It Again?

Categories: Applications

I’ve been playing the Sims 2 for a couple years, and I’ve recently got most of the expansion packs. (And Celebration Stuff Pack)I have University, Pets, Seasons, Open for Business, and finally Freetime. I installed them in that order, and everything was fine. When I installed Freetime, my game completely crashed. Everytime I went to play, the graphics would be all choppy, and after a few minutes I would get a notice saying “Application has crashed. Application will now terminate.” I don’t have the best computer, it’s pretty old. It’s got an AMD Athlon(tm) Processor, 1.15GHz, and 512 MB of RAM. I was having other problems with the computer, so I took the old hard disk out, put a new one in, and completely re-formatted it. Now I have an empty computer, and am ready to re-install the game.Should I install everything except Freetime? It seems that it pushed my computer over the limit. I do want to play it, but it has its problems, and I just want the game to work! Any thoughts?

Oh that sucks…I hope you saved your game files on a hard disk like it asks you to do before installing every time??
In my opinion, I would try it again. What could it hurt, if you already lost everything?
The graphics are probably choppy because of your video card. If you wanted that to improve, you’d need to buy a new one. But they’re pretty expensive.
I’ve had that problem as well, the application terminating, I mean. But it’s only when I use certain downloaded custom material, such as really extravagant lots and families.
Also, if you haven’t downloaded the patch for Freetime, that could be causing the glitches that cause it to crash. The patch for Freetime and all other versions of the game are located on the Sims 2 website (www.thesims.com). Click on your country, and go to the tab that says Help. Move down to patches and download the appropriate ones for the games you own. You may need to create an account if you don’t already have one. It’s worth it, you get tons of free downloads (if you think your computer could handle it, lol)
If all else fails, I would suggest buying a new computer with at least 1GB (if not 2) of ram.
    Hope this helps! Good luck.
