How Do I Uninstall A Program From A Crashed Hard Drive?
Categories: Applications
Written By: admin
My external hard drive recently crashed and I can’t uninstall iTunes from it so that I can install it back so I can use it. Ever time I try to uninstall iTunes it says that it can’t find the Z Drive and it says the same when I try to install iTunes. Now I am fairly good with computers and can’t solve this problem. Any suggestions?

A hammer and some cotton swabs.

If you have an extra disk, I’d give a shot at installing that as your Z drive and then trying to install again. Hopefully the installer will notice that it isn’t available on your Z drive and recommend reinstalling. If that doesn’t work and you are comfortable with registry edits, I’d start looking through the registry to clear out the entries, at least enough to get you through the installation. I didn’t really pay attention to the installer for iTunes but I have also had problems where InstallShield had a problem because of files left over from a previous installation. I don’t know if that will be the case here as I didn’t catch with installer program Apple used. I’m guessing it is some home grown installer but you never know. Maybe they use Install Anywhere to get the cross platform support.

You would need to go into the registry and clean up left overs.
Its a long painful process manually or you can get a registry cleaner and be done with it.
