I'm getting the new Mac laptop for my birthday, and i was wondering if i can save files from my laptop onto a ubs flash and then view it on a windows computer for example if i save a document will it show up on a windows if its not a Word Processing application? (Does Mac even have Word Processing?)

I want to buy whatever it is I need to buy so my husband can record music at home on our computer. The problem is, it's a surprise so I can't ask him what he needs. He used to record a lot, but he no longer has an amp or p.a. or anything. We have a mac laptop that's about a year old. we have garage band. he has a microphone. i looked on the apple store site, and they had some usb interface things, and a friend told me to get an imic and a pre-amp and stuff, but I'm still confused and don't really know what I'm looking for. I imagine he would mostly just want to record acoustic guitar and vocals to start, possibly keyboard and a drum machine in the future. So what do I need to buy to get him started? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Am looking at buying a Mac Laptop mainly because they are alot better to use for editing photos & videos etc, but am not sure which one would be best for my money! Am looking to spend no more than $2000 (AUD) but of course would like to spend less if I could. Doesn't have to have the biggest harddrive as I already have my own.

My friend burned a movie for me but he has a mac laptop. The cd sometimes doesn't even register on my computer but when it does, there is no picture, just the sounds. Any advice?
