After many hours of exhaustive research I have found the best banner maker / banner generator around.  This is a truly free, and truly feture rich banner maker.  There are TONS of backgrounds, fonts and colors to go through, so many I just had to give up and choose from the 5 varioutions I absolutely love.  Give it a go if you need to build a banner. 

Looking for a good grouping of Icons/buttons etc for your site, this is a great site. The text is in German, but the Icons look great and will work for most any blog.
